Oral, Head and Neck Exam

A comprehensive health history and physical examination will be performed at your initial visit and updated periodoically. In addition to focusing on your "area(s) of interest", we conduct a thorough examination to be sure nothing is overlooked.

• Examination of diagnostic x-rays: Essential for detection of dental disease, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. 
• Oral cancer screening: Examination of the face, neck and entire oral cavity for any signs of oral cancer or pre-cancer.
• Oral soft tissues: examining all surfaces of your mouth is essential to detect any changes that could represent unknown oral or general illness
• Cranial neurological examination: based on your concerns or general examination findings, conduct a thorough examination of cranial nerve function.
• Salivary Glands: assessment of salivary gland size and function
• TMJ and Muscles: examination of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), facial and neck muscles
• Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
• Examination of dental decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay.
• Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
